Science park extension and development of energy efficient exemplar buildings

Blueprint is an exciting and innovative public/private joint venture (between East Midlands Development Agency/English Partnerships [now the Homes and Communities Agency], Igloo Regeneration and Morley Fund Management), formed to promote the development of a portfolio of urban regeneration sites in the East Midlands.

We were instructed by Blueprint to act in respect of the extension to Nottingham Science and Technology Park (at Highfields, on University Boulevard adjacent to the University of Nottingham. Working with a multi-disciplinary team, we obtained outline planning permission for the extension and, at the same time, secured full planning permission for an ‘exemplar’ office/R&D building (UCO Class B1) and for the ‘Toyota Auto Academy’ (an integrated training facility for motor vehicle staff), another joint venture, between Castle (FE) College, Nottingham and the Toyota Motor Corporation (the Toyota Training and Education Partnership).

Both buildings are of a radical modern, eye-catching, design and are highly energy efficient.
