Urban Regeneration

We have undertaken many commissions on previously developed, redundant and/or derelict land in urban areas, including areas suffering deprivation and social and economic exclusion across the UK. As noted above, a number of these have involved comprehensive mixed-use, residential, commercial, retail and leisure developments.

 

One of the more exciting schemes with which we are currently dealing is the former ‘Stanton Tip’ (Cinderhill Colliery) at Cinderhill, Nottingham, for Strawsons Property and Nottingham City Council (joint landowners), which involves the reclamation and remediation of an old colliery spoil heap and its redevelopment for mixed uses, including housing, employment, a neighbourhood centre and open space.

Amongst the challenges with this project is to implement a reclamation strategy that delivers the maximum amount of stable and uncontaminated development land, to successfully integrate (physically, visually, environmentally and socially) the new development with the established suburbs around it, and, to secure the conservation and enhancement of a Local Nature Reserve on the Site.
